The major objective of the scientific work at DERI is to bring current Web technology to its full potential by combining and improving recent trends around the Web. The Next Web Geberation research group is a research cluster in the DERI (Web: deri.semanticweb.org) institute. DERI is a cooperation of the University of Innsbruck and the National University of Ireland, Galway.
The Next Generation Web Group is headed by renowned Semantic Web Expert - Prof. Dr. Dieter Fensel. The major objective of our scientific work is to bring current Web technology to its full potential by combining and improving recent trends around the Web. We are focusing on Ontology, Semantic Web, and Web Service Technology. We are currently involved in many EU projects related to the Semantic Web such as: SWWS (swws.semanticweb.org), Esperonto (esperonto.semanticweb.org), COG (www.cogproject.org), hTechsight (prise-serv.cpe.surrey.ac.uk/techsight). We are also co-ordinating the Thematic Network on Semantic Web called OntoWeb (www.ontoweb.org). As a leading group in Europe, we also have broad international collaboration with many countries outside of Europe, such as United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Singapore.
